Despite having a top-ranked football program, set to battle for the NCAA National Title this Monday, Auburn University has fallen in the scholastic rankings. The school's Academic Progress Rating has dropped from No. 85 out of 120 other major colleges polled. This comes as a shock, since Auburn was siting pretty at No. 4 in the last poll.
The Academic Progress Rating is an assessment of the university's athletes and their scholastic advancement. In 2006, Auburn was accused of using loopholes in NCAA policies to give their football players little to no work.
Is this the reason why Auburn did so well this year? Should this signal a disqualification from the National Title? The NCAA has loosely held up scholastic policies, will this scandal bring their neglect to light?
