After 18 days of relentless protesting and rioting, beginning on January 25, the Egyptian people's demand for the end of President Hosni Mubarak's 30-year regime has finally been realized. Yesterday afternoon, a ballsy, but clearly upset, Mubarak appeared on national television, stating (somewhere amongst a flood of jargon) that he still intended to follow his plan of remaining in power until the elections in September, but had given many of his presidential powers to Vice President Suleiman. However, less than 24 hours later, it was announced that Mubarak has resigned, handing power to the military, and fleeing with his family to Europe (smart move Hosni).
With Mubarak gone, one can only wonder, who will take power next? Tell us what you think will happen, or what Egypt's next move should be.
Regardless of the outcome, as a constant stream of the Egyptian people celebrating consumes every major news channel (you can check out a live stream on CNN), waving their nation's flag and chanting "Egypt is free! Egypt is free!", the Egyptian movement will never be forgotten.
